FAQ

  • Q What are the effects of operating organic solvents inside the glove box?

A If organic solvents are operated inside the glove box, it will have some impact on the glove box. During the operation of organic solvents, measures should be taken to avoid the organic solvents from being exposed to the box for a long time and evaporating in large quantities, mixing with the atmosphere inside the glove box, entering the purification system through the circulation pipeline, and damaging the purification materials. The organic solvents used inside the glove box should be sealed and isolated at all times. After the operation is completed, the system should be cleaned to achieve a pure atmosphere and reduce the impact on the purification column.
  • Q Do glove boxes need regular system cleaning?

A The glove box requires regular system cleaning. If the glove box is not cleaned for a long time, it will cause the atmosphere inside the box to contain too much water and oxygen, which will consume the adsorption capacity of the purification material. In severe cases, it will damage the purification material and prevent the purification system from regenerating normally.
  • Q What exactly is glove box cleaning?

A The process of cleaning the glove box by replacing the air inside the glove box with the working gas is called "cleaning". The glove box that has been newly installed or has opened the front window glass during maintenance contains air. Replace the air inside the box with working gas to achieve a relatively pure atmosphere environment. When there is a large amount of air in the glove box, it must be cleaned with working gas until the concentration of oxygen in the box drops below 200 ppm. (Under sufficient gas conditions, it is best to clean to below 100ppm).
  • Q Can the water oxygen content in the glove box be directly cycled if it is too high?

A If the water oxygen content in the glove box is too high, it is not allowed to start the cycle directly without cleaning, as this operation may quickly consume the adsorption capacity of the purification material and require regeneration.
  • Q What will happen if the pressure setting is not set correctly during the regeneration of the glove box in Mikrouna?

A The relative pressure of the regeneration gas required for the Mikrouna glove box regeneration system is between 0.4 and 0.6 bar (0.04-0.06Mpa) (each manufacturer has different settings, it is best to confirm with the equipment supplier); If the relative pressure of the regeneration gas in the glove box is set too high, there is a risk of damaging the system, while a low pressure can cause incomplete regeneration and poor regeneration effect.
  • Q What will happen if the working pressure setting of the glove box is not accurate?

A The working pressure value of the glove box will be set by the supplier during the initial installation. If the set working pressure value is too high, there is a risk of damaging the system, while setting the working pressure value too low will cause the glove box system to malfunction.
  • Q Can standard glove boxes be used for the production and experimentation of toxic materials?

A Standard glove boxes are not suitable for direct handling of toxic materials in production and experimentation, and require specific chemical protection measures, including the use of materials that can resist specific chemical erosion, and may require higher-level filtration and exhaust systems to handle potentially harmful vapors or gases. Therefore, when dealing with toxic materials, customized or specially designed glove boxes may be required, which have enhanced sealing and dedicated chemical filtration systems to ensure operational safety and environmental protection.
  • Q Can standard glove boxes be used for production and experimentation with radiation?

A Standard glove boxes are usually not suitable for production and experimental environments with radiation. Due to their lack of specialized shielding design for radioactive materials, they may not be able to effectively prevent radiation leakage. In a radioactive environment, specially customized glove boxes are required, which have reinforced radiation shielding materials and sealing performance, as well as efficient ventilation and filtration systems to ensure the safety of operators and prevent environmental pollution. These customized glove boxes should comply with relevant radiation protection standards.
